Quote Art

This project was very simple and I loved the outcome of it. 

I first saw this project on Pinterest. Then I saw Steven do it and ever since I've wanted to try it myself.

I asked my Grandma to go to DI with me so I could pick out an old painting...she got an old bread box.

I took this old painting and cut it down to a 8x10 so I could frame it later. 

I already had a pack of letter stickers that I picked up from the Roberts Arts and Crafts sale. 

Being the perfectionist I am I was worried about the paint seeping through the letters..which happened anyway. However, I loved how it turned out, it gave a rustic worn out look to the words. 

With the painting I choose it had some texture so when I put the paint on it 

Here's what to do

Step one: Go find an old painting. Mine was $3.00 from Desert Industries. 

Step Two: Find a quote you like and place the sticker letters onto your painting. 

Step three: Choose a color of paint and cover the painting. (I used gouache paint, it's a thick tempera base paint [correct me on that if I'm wrong]...which is not the cheapest paint to use.)
Step four: Wait to dry and peel off the letters. 

Step Five: Admire your project. 

I'm excited to put mine in a black frame.  

Fancy that Friday

This is my last Friday in Mexico. Next Friday I will be on a plane to The States again. Which means I probably won't have a Fancy Friday till Saturday next week. Sorry, guys!

I fancy gift wrapping and cards made with love.

If you didn't know, I love making cards. Yes, Hallmark is nice, but handmade shows so much love. It reminds me of when I was a little girl (or even now days) and making things for family or friends...I would ask "Do you think they will like it?" And my Mom or Grandparents would always say "Of course, because you made it." There is just something special about handmade cards and unique wrapping, it adds some extra love.

I love different scrapbook paper and fonts to create my cards. Yesterday while working on a few Christmas cards I was really starting to miss all of my supplies from The States. I have been using the same paper and style of cards for the past 6 months. Don't get me wrong, they look great, but I am excited to head to the scarp booking store for some Christmas paper to make some more cards when I get back.

I am planning on decorating my gifts a bit differently this year besides the normal wrapping paper and bows. I told my Grandma that she needs to save some paper bags for wrapping this year. I am going for the recycled wrapping look this year I think, and adding something a little extra. My Mom is pretty dang good at whipping up some nice looking packages. You know how packages will look so pretty that you just don't want to open them? It's like that. I hope my wrapping creativity is as good as her's someday.

I think pulling a late night with all of my cards and wrapping sounds like a good plan! A date with some coffee, card making, and gift wrapping...with maybe a few Christmas movies.

Fancy that Friday....Saturday?

I apologize that I have turned you down, dear readers of mine.

I really have no excuse as to why I missed my Fancy Friday.

Cross stitch

My Mom taught me how to cross stitch, it's simple really.All you need is patience, which I find somewhat difficult. It's something nice to do on a rainy day.

I really fancy sweet and simple cross stitch patterns.

I haven't done a whole project yet, but I'm planning on starting soon.

I feel in love with the little jellyfish cross stitch design.

I was tempted to order the pattern from Etsy.

However, looking at it I realized that I didn't even need to buy the pattern.

Thanks to the nice pair of eyes that God has gifted me with...I was able to count the little crosses right off the screen.

Here is my little jellyfish. Ain't he cute?I did this without even using the pattern.

Like how I was running out a thread and had to make it one string instead of two on three of the tentacles? (which is why they don't look as thick) He was just my practice though so it's okay. I plan on making a whole design with them soon.

Fancy That Friday.

Farmers Markets.

Last week we hit up two farmers markets.

Palmilla on Friday & San Jose on Saturday.

There are two good reasons why farmers markets tickle my fancy.

Uno. The food

There is so much fresh and organic food around you. Fruits and most vegetables if different kinds.

The food that will make your body say "Thank you."

My Momma got some Okra and fried it up Saturday night. It was heavenly.

At the San Jose Market we decided it would be a good idea to grab some lunch.

We had the most authentic quesadillas I think I will ever try.

They were finger lickin' good I tell ya.

Afterwards we stopped by this lady's stand, she was selling homemade ice cream and sorbet. I went with the coffee and vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate shell.

Duos. The handmade beauty.

From photographs and art to jewelry and hair prettys.

I will soon be added to the collection as well with my hair clips and headbands.

LigaMAC, the group I volunteer for, asked me to make them for the Saturday market.

All of the money will be going to families in crisis.

It's exciting.

First order of buisness.

I started my volunteer job working in the office for LIGAmac (The group who owns the used book store I work at as well.)
It's a different change of pace and I love it so much.
I am able to work with more of the families in crisis. I am so blessed to be apart of this helping process. It really opens your eyes to what you really have in life.
I will now be at the office on Saturdays instead of the bookstore.

I was even asked to make flower hair pieces and pins for the Farmers Market coming up in November as well.

I stuck my nose into an amazing book.

I'm planning on reading it all night long.

I took some cute photographs.

& now I have a Chai tea in hand.
